My Own Developing Pedagogy Gravitates Towards The Steiner...

Introduction Being that the nation should not be valued upon it’s wealth but upon it’s education and character, my own developing pedagogy gravitates towards the Steiner model founded in understanding of the children’s developmental needs, rather than a standardised content based syllabus as is the State Government model. I see Steiner as a balance between student centred approach (progressive) and what is traditional (essential). Although I imagine everyone is trying to obtain the same goal, the way in which this is being achieved is vastly different. I choose to focus on the Steiner model as it stresses teaching content at the appropriate time and in a way that is compatible with the children’s natural style of learning at that age. The following principles support the theory and explains the motivations. By contrast I will briefly look at a historical example juxtaposed with modern global standards (OECD). Principles You could state that Steiner loosely supports the core points of a progressive philosophy. That all students play a role in forming the content of the curriculum meaning the teacher works cooperatively with the students to form lessons based on capacity, interests and curiosities. And, with every child being an individual, with natural gifts; each may follow a similar developmental path, but at different rates. Characteristics of the Effective Early Childhood Educator...

This essay examines the components that contribute to being an effective early childhood educator. Effective early childhood education has been shown to be an evolving and complex process, and is influenced by many factors. These factors include a deep understanding of the theories and philosophies of many pioneering and contemporary pedagogues, such as Piaget, Montessori and Vygotsky and studies emerging from Reggio Emilia in Italy. Researchers have found, that unless the educator is working in a specific theory based environment, for example, a Montessori school, or a school where Piagetian practice is implemented, the contemporary pedagogy will base lesson plans on a selection of these theorists ideas and concepts rather than the†¦show more content†¦This essay will expand on the above points by reviewing how previous researchers believe that educators can be effective and the effects these factors have on early childhood education. Piaget, Frobel, Montessori and in more recent times Vygotsky, are a selection of theorists and philosophers whos ideas have helped shape the framework of early childhood eduction in Australia and other Western nations ( Edwards Hammer, 2006). Historically these Westernised pedagogical pioneers have helped shape the contemporary early childhood curriculum based on a series of principles. These principles are evident and still relevant in contemporary teaching. Recognising a childs ability and acknowledging the various stages of development, and providing a safe and stimulating environment are paramount to early childhood learning. Religion can provide positive and negative factors affecting quality of life for women in Sub-Saharan African with HIV/AIDS. One major positive factor that increase quality of life is the support system that religion can provide. It is documented that â€Å"Women s narratives also illustrated how their faith was an important source of ongoing psychological support as they learned to live with their diagnosis† (Maman et al., 2009). Churches and pastors provide support and a community for women with a HIV/AIDS diagnosis. This is crucial for women to fight depression, substance abuse and other negative side effects from having a HIV/AIDS diagnosis. If there is a lack of other services and support for Sub-Saharan African women (which often there is), religion and churches can fill that gap and help women towards a better quality of life. Another positive effect that religion provides for women with HIV/AIDS is an increase in information and knowledge surrounding the disease.
